Before the Smoke
Light to medium brown in color wrapper. No visible flaws.
Something unique about these cigars is they come in a beer can! Sealed and protected.
A lot of cedar, wood, and earthy notes. It had a very clean cold draw.
During the first third, cedar was the main note distinguished. Midway through the first third, there was definitely a leathery as well as earthy tone to it.
There was a pretty major note change during the second third. The first part was made up of the cedar and earth but within one single puff, about a quarter of the way into the second third, a new note of espresso and cocoa entered. It was mild at first but puff after puff it became sweeter and more predominant. To add to the note change, a hint of pepper emerged as well. The cedar crept in and out every few puffs leaving the espresso and cocoa taste lingering on the tongue.
The burn like was razor sharp straight and the draw was perfect.
The espresso and cocoa were in full force at this point. The pepper was still there but very faint in it’s efforts. After each puff the taste of cedar was still at play but the espresso and cocoa were very dominate leaving a sweet and pleasant taste in my mouth.
The burn line stayed razor-sharp straight. Not once was there an uneven burn or lips formed.
- A cigar like this is absolutely perfect for cigar novices and beginners. Being a medium body cigar, it’s just right.
- It’s also great for those of you who would like to learn how to review a cigar. It isn’t too complex or too basic either.
- We’re very excited to see how this brand grows this year and next and would like to thank our friend, d’Artagnan Clark for sending us these sticks. We have a couple of more from Maya Selva and Flor De Selva Cigars to review, so be sure to watch out of those reviews.
